Hatton Jewellery Institute (HJI), formerly Hatton Studios, was founded in 2012 by Creative Director and Founder of Melville Fine Jewellery, Nathalie Melville. A strong believer in making the fine jewellery industry more accessible and more sustainable, the Hatton Jewellery Institute concept has quickly evolved into an establishment that not only supports the design community but inspires originality and creativity through technical design and jewellery making courses.

moving away from Wordpress

After 6 years of quality teaching, hosting co-working space and mentoring designers, the creative hub for the jewellery industry needed an improved UX and UI for their website to reflect its industry reputation. Previously hosted on Wordpress, I re-platformed the website to Squarespace. I moved all content and improved the complete user experience, ensuring easy navigation on both desktop and mobile.

clear calls to action

As an education and creative co-working space, it’s important to highlight clear calls to action to push tour bookings. The new website features a variety of concise soundbites ensuring visitors can always navigate to other areas of interest and contact HJI. A live chat function was built into the website to help increase conversion rates.

design community

Over the years, Hatton Jewellery Institute has grown a community of jewellery makers and designers. The new website features a space to present resident and alumni designers, plus a space to feature interviews with designers.

efficient and actionable

The migration project was completed within 12 weeks resulting in a mobile-optimised online space. Maintenance and updates of the store is efficient with clear and accessible call to action to convert visitors to active leads.
